Information About Our Yoga Classes

Barbara J. Rich Leading Yoga Class

Yoga is enjoyable, useful, and practical.

My intention as a teacher is to assist you in any way that helps you deepen your experience of Yoga, to help you let go of that inner critic, and to live fully in the present moment.

Eat very lightly before class. Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before class begins. There are Yoga mats for you to borrow.

Yoga class begins with slow, focused breathing and gentle joint and muscle movements.  Being aware of all parts of the body allows us to observe tense or tight places and to be compassionate toward ourselves.

Once the body-mind feels safe and accepted, we practice classic Yoga postures (Asanas).  You’re encouraged to pay attention to your own range of motion and flexibility while entering, holding, and releasing the postures.  We explore a variety of breathing techniques (Pranayama), concentrating on the connections between body, mind, breath, and spirit.

Each class ends with guided, intentional, conscious relaxation.

I was near the end of my treatment for cancer when someone told me about Barbara Rich’s Yoga classes. I hadn’t done Yoga in quite a while, but thought it would be good for me. Barbara’s classes were just what my spirit and body needed to help me heal. Through her loving kindness, I have learned to be more mindful and to live in the present moment. I always feel more peaceful and focused after the class session. I highly recommend her gentle and caring manner of teaching.
